Your portal comprises a number of software products, some created by Deepfactor and some created by third parties. We recommend allowing unrestricted outbound connectivity from your portal to facilitate proper operation of these products. This document outlines the various services your portal may use and the effects that you may experience if some/any of these services are blocked.
Your portal may periodically communicate with the following external services:
- Deepfactor software repository – HTTPS communication to our APT software repository (performed once every 24 hours). If this communication is blocked, the portal will not be able to notify you of new software version availability and will not be able to perform any portal software upgrades.
- host: repo.deepfactor.io
- Deepfactor usage telemetry – HTTPS communication to Deepfactor’s telemetry collection service (if you opted in to this collection during product installation). If this communication is blocked, the portal will not be able to collect usage information; this may impede Deepfactor’s ability to provide
proactive help and support.- host: resolute.deepfactor.io
- Deepfactor license verification – HTTPS communication to Deepfactor’s license server (performed once every 24 hours). If this communication is blocked, the portal will not be able to verify license information; the ability to create new applications and/or users may be impacted.
- host: resolute.deepfactor.io
- 3rd party software repositories – HTTPS communication to other APT software repositories. This communication is not performed automatically by Deepfactor but may occur if you manually initiate a software upgrade on the portal VM using ‘apt update’ or equivalent. If this communication is blocked, you may be unable to upgrade the portal’s operating system or other packages:
These software repositories include:- Ubuntu (Canonical)
- ClickHouse (Yandex)
- PostgreSQL
- Docker
- CLAIR CVE database updates – HTTPS and GIT (ssh) communication performed once per day to keep the CVE database in the portal updated. If this communication is blocked, the CVE database will have stale data and not reflect current CVEs.
- host: various
- OWASP Dependency check database update – HTTPS communication performed once per day to keep the dependency hash database updated. If this communication is blocked, the dependency check database will have stale data and not reflect current component dependencies.
